Meet the Staff

• Dr. Pawl was born in Chicago in 1959 and has been a resident of California since 1963. He moved to San Diego in 1987 after graduating from dental school at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He opened his first practice in 1988 and has been in private practice for the past 22 years in San Diego.
  
  Dr. Pawl married his wife Robin in 1987 and together they share a love of all types of animals! They have had many varieties of pets including ducks, rabbits, Sun Conure (small parrot), Blue & Gold Macaw (large parrot), Great Dane, African Cichlids (fish), and families of skunks and possums. Currently Dr. Pawl and Robin enjoy spending time with their dog, a Schipperke named “Oley” (pronounced O-Lee), their four horses Clem, Fire, Kalio and Prince and their parrot Taylor.
  
  Outside of his love of dentistry, Dr. Pawl enjoys skiing, scuba diving, horseback riding, hiking, bike riding, skydiving (he's been 3 times!), and photography! Many of you who know Dr. Pawl know that his number one hobby is GUNS! He and Robin are both avid shooters and enjoy teaching others how to shoot safely. He and his staff even make trips to the shooting range together!
  
  Dr. Pawl has worked with numerous charitable organizations throughout his 22 years in dentistry including Doctors With A Heart, Coe Lewis' “Coe's List” on 101.5 KGB radio (helping San Diegan's in need), and The Magic Horse Therapeutic Riding Center. Dr. Pawl's wife Robin Pawl is the founder/director of The Magic Horse Therapeutic Riding Center located in Lakeside. Please visit her website for more information!
• April Kimmel has been a practicing dental hygienist for the past 10 years, with registered licenses in Virginia, North Carolina & California. She is an honor graduate of the hygiene program at the University of Louisville Dental School in Kentucky. April has been a part of TEAM PAWL since January 2008 and has since become certified to perform multiple laser therapy procedures for our patients.
  
  In April and May 2008, TEAM PAWL and their patients supported April in traveling to Nepal to aide in a dental relief effort for the children of Kathmandu and the Himalayas. She has found great passion for this kind of charitable contribution and she hopes to continue to participate in similar trips in the future!
  
  April has such a wonderful enthusiasm for her job and for helping to educate her patients on improving/maintaining their oral and overall health. She is a wealth of knowledge and is much loved and respected by her patients!
• My name is Courtney and I've been working in the dental field since I was 17. My co-workers and my patients make every day enjoyable and keep me loving my job! I am a native to Southern California, but have been living in San Diego for the past two and a half years. I am a devoted Chargers fan and enjoy attending home games with my family and friends. I was recently married, bought a home and adopted a Bengal cat named Tango.
• Stephanie began her career in dental with Dr. Pawl in 2005 and has loved every minute since! She has a vast knowledge of dental treatments and has a lot of experience working with all types of dental insurances & is happy to answer any questions you may have. She loves interacting with all of the amazing patients, helping to educate them and coordinating their treatment so they achieve the healthy, beautiful smiles they want and deserve!! Stephanie is a native San Diegan! She graduated from Grossmont High School here in La Mesa and also attended San Diego State University. Stephanie enjoys watching football (GO CHARGERS!!), water sports, going to the river and the desert, cooking, photography, playing cards, animals and listening to music.
• Christi is a newcomer to the dental field and began working with Dr. Pawl in 2009. She has loved learning about all of the different aspects of the dental office! Christi is excited to assist you with your scheduling needs and insurance questions. Christi is a native Californian and moved to San Diego in 1974. She is a graduate of Helix High School here in La Mesa. Christi enjoys playing soccer, traveling, photography, watching and attending San Diego Charger games and spending time with her eight animals!
