Technology
- At Edward Alan Walker DDS of Temecula, CA, we care about our patients’ comfort and overall dental experience, providing high quality dentistry in a relaxing environment. We have invested in modern technology that makes coming to the dentist a more pleasant experience and we are constantly updating to new products, and materials and are continually educated on the newest procedures.
- Electric High-speed Handpieces: Electric high-speed handpieces may seem like a small ammenity and one you may not even be aware of, but they are a behind-the-scenes element that will make your dental visit much more comfortable. They are quiet and much less irritating. They provide higher precision and less vibration
- Digital Radiography: A new system of taking X-rays, called digital radiography, reduces radiation by as much as 80 percent. With this new technology, dentist and patient will watch images come up on a computer screen seconds after the x-ray is taken. The images will be higher resolution than film images and will be stored and used for many areas of evaluation. The chemical waste associated with film processing will be eliminated. Most significantly, patients will be exposed to one tenth the x-ray dosage typically delivered today.
- Zoom! One-hour Teeth Whitening: Zoom! is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. With Zoom! Teeth Whitening (as seen on ABC’s Extreme Makeovers), you can have whiter, brighter teeth in one appointment. This innovative procedure allows us to make quick, smooth strides in creating new smiles immediately. A study has shown that use of the Zoom! lamp increases the effectiveness of the Zoom! gel by 26% or more, giving an average improvement of up to eight shades.
- CEREC CAD/CAM chairside crowns: Cerec crowns are not the solution for all restorations but this product allows a dental practitioner to produce an indirect ceramic dental restoration using a variety of computer assisted technologies, including 3D photography and CAD/CAM. With CEREC, teeth can be restored in a single instead of two visits while a crown is made at a traditional dental lab.
- Invisalign: If you're ready for a smile that transforms your appearance, Invisalign is your answer. Although there are many choices out there, no other works as effortlessly as the Invisalign system. Your Invisalign treatment will consist of a series of aligners that you switch out about every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured with exact calculations to gradually shift your teeth into place. Invisalign is the best way to transform your smile without interfering with your day-to-day life. We will be glad to develop a treatment plan to show you the actual results possible with your specific case.
- Dental-Caries Detector: This handy caries detector takes some of the guesswork out of diagnosing dental problems. The dental caries are located by measuring the electrical conductivity properties of a tooth.
- Soft Tissue Laser: With its many uses, the soft tissue laser is very important in cosmetic dentistry. Smileline aesthetics can be enhanced through shaping and contouring the gingival tissue. It streamlines many dental procedures and improves healing time.
- Tens machine—and Tek Scan: These technologies are essential in cosmetic dentistry, particularly in full-mouth restoration. It is very important in cosmetic dentistry to find the position of the jaw at optimum position. Occlusion refers to the way the teeth mesh together. Problems with proper meshing can lead to pain in the teeth, muscles and TMJ, fractured teeth and restorations, and the pathological grinding of the teeth called bruxism. In our office, we have an instrument called the Tek Scan, a computerized bite analysis instrument, which allows us to be extremely concise in adjusting bite relations. Unlike the typical carbon-type bite checking paper which only shows where a contact is, the Tek Scan identifies the contact through the computer on a real-time basis, showing the bite force intensity of each contact throughout the mouth in 0.1 second intervals. This allows us to adjust the occlusion and provide a level of restorative service, functionally balancing tooth, periodontal support, and muscular activity, with a degree of precision never before attainable.
- What is Full Mouth Restoration? Full Mouth Restoration, sometimes called neuromuscular dentistry, is the individual restructuring of each and every tooth. The goal of Full Mouth Restoration is to restore ideal occlusion (bite). A healthy smile begins with healthy function. This method of treatment determines the optimal physiological position of the jaw.
- Intraoral video camera: This important piece of equipment allows us to take video of the inside of your mouth and show them to you on our flat screen monitors so that you can clearly see areas of concern. This process is educational and helps you make informed decisions about your dental health. Digital Camera: The digital camera is especially important when creating new smiles and is nice for “before and after” pictures.
- Nitrous Oxide or “Laughing Gas” can be a great service for someone who is a little nervous about dental treatment. Nitrous Oxide is completely safe and often relieves anxiety. Please let us know if you are apprehensive about dental procedures.
- State-of-the-Art Sterilization Center: We take sterilization very seriously and have updated to the most up to date sterilization procedures and equipment. Our sterilization center is truly modern and constructed to insure your protection. It is very important to us to ensure you have a safe visit to our office.
- Totally Computerized Dental Office: We have taken great care to have up-to-date dental software, meshing patient accounts, X-Ray, intra-oral and extra-oral images, health history, etc. all at the touch of a button in every one of our treatment rooms. We send insurance claims electronically, and can get answers to your insurance questions in streamlined fashion.
