Office Tour

I have been practicing dentistry in Pleasanton, California for over 25 years.We are located near the aquatic center and one block away from the main Post Office. Besides myself, our office staff consists of four other people: an Office Manager (Jan Evans), a Front-desk Manager (Shelley Cobb), a hygienist (Lorraine Jacinto), and a Chairside Dental Assistant ( Virginia Orosco). Each of our staff members are "here" not only because of their excellent professional skills, but also, and just as importantly, because of their "people" skills. They cannot work here if they just don't enjoy "naturally" working around and being with you, our patients. We all believe in an atmosphere of being friendly, comforting, helpful,and respectful of the patient's needs and "feelings." We also, of course, are dedicated to applying the highest professional standards and procedures to your dental needs. I like to characterize myself as an "aesthetic precisionist." This means whatever we do, "it should last,"...and be placed and function "comfortably." It also should be cosmetically appealing. I am thought of as a cosmetic dentist; a family dentist; a "full-mouth reconstruction" dentist; and a "preventive dentistry" dentist (using advanced methods). We also put a great emphasis on education and motivation. Because we treasure so much the opportunity to develop a friendship with you, we will work tirelessly to earn your trust and confidence.

Meet the Staff

• Jan Evans - Extremely dedicated Office Manager of over 23 years. Jan is very knowledgeable about practice policies and dental procedures. She is very conversant and enjoys explaining "in layman's" language what our procedures and policies are all about. Much of the confidence our patients have in us as a practice is due to her heart-felt communication skills. She wants and works very hard to be a "friend" to each and every one of our patients. She is a very honest and ethical persons. Patients love her and will occasionally just "drop-in" to visit with her, and usually not on a "dental" subject.
• Shelley Cobb - Very talented Front-desk Manager. Shelley's duties involve insurance processing, scheduling, follow-up on recall visits, and basic "traffic-directing" of phone activities as well as greeting those who come through the front door. She "organizes" to make the day's schedules run smoothly and efficiently. Shelly also is in charge of bookkeeping and computer activities. After being in the practice for over 21 years, Shelley has developed many friends who are patients. If any patient has questions about insurance, then Shelley is the one who has or can get the answer. There are very few if any complaints I have ever heard from patients regarding Shelley's performance. She truly has her heart in the practice and works tirelessly in the patients behalf.
• Lorraine Jacinto - Our hygienist. She puts in a long day (9 1/2 hours) serving you , our patients. Her day starts at 7:00 A.M. and goes until 5:30 P.M. Even though she can be very busy, she is always very relaxed, and has a cheerful disposition. She speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish. She enjoys talking to our patients while she works. She can also often be heard "humming" or singing while cleaning your teeth. On the side, she is a professional singer and has performed in a band. Lorraine is very dedicated to comfort, thoroughness, and professional excellence as she performs her various procedures. In my office, we are committed to a set of proceedures mostly pertaining to "preventive dentistry" which you will not very often find in most offices. We emphasize in a very detailed way what you, the patient, needs to be doing every day at home. We also have a regimen, professionally approved, for getting you "back on track" should damage occur due to negligence or apathy. Lorraine understands these principles very well and communicates the importance of "perio prevention" often to all our patients. I have really never heard any complaints from patients about Lorraine. It has always been quite the opposite.
• Virginia Orosco - She is the Doctor's Chairside Dental Assistant. No other person in the office works as close to me, the Dr. as does Virginia. We practice "four-handed sit-down dentistry." Many dentists, even graduating today, are going into private practice not using nor having been taught these skills. This is mainly because new government pressure to graduate more dentists in shorter time has required most dental schools to drastically cut the amount of "clinic" hours formerly needed to train a new dentist. Learning "four-handed" dentistry is an area unavoidably "cut" as clinic hours are "cut." In my practice, Virginia and I, think as a "team." She anticipates my every need. Her understanding of all our dental techniques and proceedures is superb. She is also very comforting, relaxing, and reassuring, to the patient. She also has great "verbal and patient relationship" skills. She fully enjoys our patients, and uses what I call "verbal sedation" to relax most of our patients. It works. This is one of the reasons we used to advertise, "We Cater to Cowards," on some of our direct mail pieces. Virginia has been my chairside assistant for over four years, but originally came to us as a patient some twelve years ago.

Community Involvement

• I have offered my services to several religious organizations, for those in need. I have also volunteered services for select individuals in the community as a matter of practice policy.
