Bay Area House Call Dentists are committed to removing every barrier a person has to receiving dental care. For the special population who cannot obtain services in a traditional dental office due to physical, cognitive or emotional limitations, our staff can deliver services in the settings where they reside within a 60 mile radius of our San Francisco office. Bay Area House Call Dentists is a division of the Blende Dental Group, a private practice that has been treating patients with special needs, disabilities, complex medical conditions and severe phobias for more than 20 years. Bay Area House Call Dentists are dedicated to being a resource for case managers, social workers, assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, Alzheimer's/memory care centers, adult day care facilities, residential board and care homes, home care agencies, hospital patients and those who are homebound with special needs, medical complications or transportation/mobility issues. If you have difficulty traveling to a dentist, our team of mobile dentists will bring the care to you!

Meet the Staff

• Dr. David Blende, DDS - Dr. Blende is a graduate of the University of Southern California with more than 20 years experience providing comprehensive dental care in both hospitals and private practices in Switzerland, Beverly Hills and San Francisco. Dr. Blende is the former Chairman of the California Dental Association's Council on Scientific Affairs. He focuses on complex dental rehabilitation cases utilizing I.V. sedation or general anesthesia in a hospital setting. Dr. Blende is the Chief of the Division of Dentistry at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco hospital, and is Chief of the Dental Division at California Pacific Medical Center hospital.
• Cheryl Elacio, DMD - Dr. Elacio is our Director of Geriatric Services, and works closely with Assisted Living communities around the San Francisco Bay area providing dental screenings and on-site dental services. Dr. Elacio graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2005. She then went on to complete a general practice residency at Saint Francis Hospital in Connecticut, where she received advanced training in the treatment of special needs and medically compromised patients. Dr. Elacio has a passion for bringing care to people who have challenges with access to care, and is dedicated to educating caregivers about the importance of oral health. She has been with Bay Area House Call Dentists and the Blende Dental Group since 2008.
• Samer Itani, DDS, FICOI - Dr. Samer Itani received his undergraduate training at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California and obtained his Doctorate in Dentistry from Charles University in Prague. Dr. Itani provides definitive and comprehensive care to patients with special dental needs. Dr. Itani also serves as Vice Chief of the Division of Dentistry at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco hospital. He has been with Bay Area House Call Dentists and the Blende Dental Group since 2004. Dr. Itani is fluent in Arabic and Czech.
• Amanda White, RN, BSN - Amanda is our Practice Manager. She graduated from Edinboro University in 1997 with a bachelors degree in nursing. Prior to becoming a nurse, Amanda worked for several years as direct care staff for disabled students and for seniors in an assisted living community. In 2003, she became the Practice Manager for the Blende Dental Group, our dental practice that is dedicated to treating patients who are phobic, disabled, elderly or medically compromised. In 2007 she launched the Bay Area House Call Dentists division.
• Carla Caramat - Carla is our Operations Manager. She oversees everything related to patients, and manages the team of Patient Care Coordinators who help patients to schedule appointments, plan their treatment, arrange finances, submit claims to insurance companies, and work with caregivers and families. Carla is fluent in Tagalog.
